Gaius Goff

Mr. Gaius Goff has visited Agincourt Gospel Hall numerous times along with his wife Linda, and we have appreciated their teaching and godly example immensely. Their family of eleven includes two daughters and their husbands, as well as five grandchildren, including two teenagers. Two of their grandchildren were adopted from other countries, and they consider each one in their family to be a special heritage from the Lord. Although now living in Oregon, they raised their family in Newfoundland where Gaius served God as a preacher.

Here is their testimony about their children: “When our daughters were children, each of them accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour. They both resolved to marry a man who was a Christian believer, and God answered their prayers and ours, by giving each a fine Christian man as a husband. We love those men like our own children.”

They say: “Our life has been made far more complete by these very significant people being in our life. As a family, we share common interests and goals because we are able to freely discuss the the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of our lives. Parenting and grandparenting roles are different but both are valuable in raising wholesome children.”

Gauis was awakened to the fact that life is not "eat, drink and be merry” by a number of experiences early in life. One of these experiences was life threatening and to this day he is reminded every time he looks in the mirror that he was only a step away from missing eternal life.

After attending a Gospel meeting in a Veteran's of Foreign Wars building, he was convinced that he needed forgiveness for his sins, but didn't understand how. One of the speakers told him the Passover story from the Bible where a Hebrew slave killed a unblemished lamb and painted its blood on the door frame of the house. When God saw the blood on the door He promised that the children of that house would live and escape from the slavery in Egypt. The speaker went on to show Gaius (from the Bible) that like the lamb from the Passover, God's Son, Jesus Christ, is now the only acceptable sacrifice for sins, and, that Jesus died on the cross as Gaius' substitute so that he could escape the slavery of sin's bondage.

When Gauis understood that, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord, saying to Him, "Lord Jesus, thank you for dying in my place! I appreciate it more than I can say. I accept You as my own Savior!"

From that time on, Gauis' desire has been to show his appreciation to the Lord Jesus Christ by passing on what He has done for him to other people. After graduating from university in 1960, God led him to Newfoundland and Labrador to travel the coasts in a boat preaching the Gospel in the out-ports and cities of that province. It was there that he met his wife Linda, in the city of St. John's, NL and after persuading her to marry him, they have spent their lives together serving their Savior and Lord in this way. It has been one of their life's greatest joys to see their children and spouses as well as some of their grandchildren, all making their own step of personal faith in Christ.

Their home is now in Oregon and they travel together preaching the Gospel and ministering to people all across North America and some foreign countries. There is great satisfaction in seeing the life-changes in those who come to faith in Christ, understanding that God's grace alone is what gives us salvation. We accept as a gift, His eternal life when we personally receive Jesus as our Savior. For 44 years Gaius been preaching the Gospel and for 39 years he and Linda have seen the reality of the Christian Gospel at work in lives, families and even towns and cities affected by those who come to Christ.
